Background
Jax began working as a designer, stage manager, and creative artist in the Theatre industry after graduating from the University of Scranton. She worked for years at Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, TN as their Resident Production Stage Manager and Props Designer. Additionally, she designed graphics and print materials for various theatres and entertainment groups in Memphis. Later, she studied at the University of Arizona in Tucson to pursue a degree in Theatre Technology and Design. Jax has been teaching at the collegiate level since 2005 – University of Arizona (Graduate Teaching), Tucson AZ; Gannon University, Erie PA; Athens State University, Decatur AL; Calhoun Community College, Decatur AL. As an experienced visual artist, graphic designer, theatre scenic and lighting designer, and puppeteer, Jax has worked across the country with various production teams, theatres, non-profit organizations, and start-up companies. She has designed graphics and social media campaigns for various theatres, both as corporate branding focused and as event promotional materials. Jax joined Calhoun Community College in Fall 2021 as a Visual Communications Instructor. She is the Chair of Visual Arts, as well as Chair for Calhoun’s Curriculum Committee.
