Visual Arts Center

The Visual Arts Center provides a state-of-the-art environment to learn to draw, design, paint, make original relief and intaglio prints, and create computer art in large, well-equipped studios with natural lighting.  The creative atmosphere and friendly attention of the staff and students encourage a student’s self-expression in art.

Features:

  • 3 computer labs with Mac IOS running the latest industry standard creative software

  • Ceramics lab with two slab rollers, two clay extruders, sixteen wheels, and state of the art mixing room and glazing room
  • 3D Design and Sculpture Room
  • Kiln Yard – which houses electric kilns and gas Raku & Bailey shuttle kilns
  • Painting Room
  • Drawing Room

  • Printmaking Classroom

Performing Arts Center

Housing one of the finest recital halls in the state, the Performing Arts Center is the site of student, faculty and professional performances as well as ensemble concerts.

Students in drama and theatre arts programs benefit from our unique black-box studio theater that permits a variety of staging configurations. Music technology students receive cutting-edge experience using industry-standard technology to get the most efficient and balanced recordings in real-world applications and projects.

Our campus is growing!

Three new buildings are planned, all within a few blocks of the main campus and each other in beautiful, historic downtown Decatur.

  • Student Residence Hall

    Opening in 2024!

    The 3-story, 43,474 square foot residence hall currently under construction will be the ACA’s first-ever dormitory for students. The new state-of-the-art living facility will feature 49 apartments with a mix of 11 studio, 19 one-bedroom, and 19 two-bedroom units.

  • Dance and Music Studio

    Plans announced in 2023

    The ACA, partnering with Decatur City Schools, is planning a new arts facility primarily focused on dance. The building is located one block from the residence hall, and two blocks from the main campus.

  • Visual Arts Classroom Building

    Plans announced in 2023

    A building was acquired in 2023 with plans to renovate for graphic design, digital media and animation classrooms. The building is located two blocks from the main campus.
