BIG news! Our partnership with New Orleans continues! The Award Winning Calhoun Community College Show Band will perform a FREE Concert on October 23 (7pm, Alabama Center for the Fine Arts Recital Hall, Downtown Decatur AL) with Guest Artist TJ Norris! The group will perform R&B, New Orleans Jazz, Funk, Soul, and a few other surprises! Immediately following the concert, we will have an after party jam session at the Brick! Students, community, and professionals are encouraged to bring their instruments/voice to “sit in”! Don’t miss out on an incredible night of FREE music! Here is some background on our

TJ Norris is a 2x Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, educator, and recording
artist with credits spanning PJ Morton, Delfeayo Marsalis, Maroon 5, and The Rumble.
Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, he is best known for his soulful and expressive sound,
drawing inspiration from legends such as Wycliffe Gordon, JJ Johnson, and Fred Wesley,
while grounding his artistry in the traditions of the Black church.

A proud graduate of Florida A&M; University (B.S., Jazz Studies) and Florida State University
(M.M., Jazz Studies), Norris embodies the spirit of academic and artistic excellence. Since
relocating to New Orleans in 2015, he has become a highly sought-after trombonist and
bassist, performing with Delfeayo Marsalis’ Uptown Jazz Orchestra and the world-renowned
Dirty Dozen Brass Band. With the DDBB, Norris has shared the stage with artists including
Trombone Shorty, The Killers, and George Porter Jr.
(M.M., Jazz Studies), Norris embodies the spirit of academic and artistic excellence. Since

In 2022, Norris began touring internationally as trombonist with PJ Morton, and he most
recently joined Maroon 5 for their Las Vegas Residency. Balancing performance with
pedagogy, he remains deeply committed to education—mentoring the next generation of
musicians while exemplifying the rich traditions of jazz and African American musical heritage.
